Fidelity & Crime Underwriting Trainee Position

Overview

Our Fidelity and Crime Division underwrites fidelity and crime policies throughout the U.S. for mercantile businesses, financial institutions, and governmental entities. Standard fidelity and crime products insuring for Employee Dishonesty, Kidnap & Ransom, Forgery, Computer Fraud and Money and Securities are available. Tailored products and programs are also available.

 

The Fidelity and Crime Division is searching for an Underwriter Trainee for our downtown Fort Worth, TX office.  The role of the Underwriter is to market, underwrite and produce profitable Fidelity and Crime business.  The position will entail marketing, underwriting and producing profitable business in accordance with Company objectives and policies.

 

Great American Insurance Group’s roots go back to 1872 with the founding of its flagship company, Great American Insurance Company.  Based in Cincinnati, Ohio, the operations of Great American Insurance Group are engaged primarily in property and casualty insurance, focusing on specialty commercial products for businesses, and in the sale of annuities and supplemental insurance products. 

Responsibilities

Responsible for an assigned book of business in which account information is evaluated, underwritten and priced within authority guidelines.  Has responsibility for low complexity risk selection / rejection, retention, growth and profitability within scope of authority and per divisional objectives.

 

Maintains a high level of customer service. Communicates directly with Agents and Brokers to develop and maintain strong relationships. Promptly issues quotes, policies and endorsements.

 

Evaluates assigned book of business to maintain department profitability. Evaluates new agents and brokers potential for new business.

 

Orders and analyzes miscellaneous business reports needed in the rating and underwriting processes, including credit checks, bank agreements, financial statements and underwriting surveys. 

 

Position requires travel in an assigned territory – approximately 20-25% travel.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics or other Business related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • 0-2 years of business related experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other PC based programs. 
  • High level of organizational skills, ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Strong communication skills in order to leverage excellent customer relationships, and to provide opportunities for marketing products and services.
